New Zealand combines trophy trout fishing with stunning scenery
and unbelievably clear waters. Stalking large trout in these breathtaking
surroundings is a experience not to be forgotten. With an almost endless
number of rivers, streams and lakes, there is a lifetime of fishing to
be had on New Zealand's North and South Islands. Many of our clients have
returned time and time again, seeking out the many different quality trout
fishing experiences this country has to offer.
Having spent our "winters" in New Zealand since 1987, and averaging
100 days of fishing each season, we know the country and the fishing better
than most and can offer our clients the best advice on where and when to
travel. There are many options in planning your itinerary depending on
your length of stay, budget, and type of experience desired. We listen
to you and plan your trip around your needs and requests.
Dave -
I just
wanted to let you know that all the activity on the itinerary that you
so professionally put together has been confirmed. It is so great to talk
to your friends and see pictures of the places that you picked for us to
stay. I wish we were going tomorrow.
Regards to
you were sent by most of the people I contacted, and I am sure it is well
deserved. So again I am thanking you. I will stay in touch with you, and
may even catch up to you in Idaho some day.
Sincere Regards,
Todd B, New Hampshire |
Since we are outfitters and fly fishing guides ourselves, we have an advantage
in knowing what it takes to organize quality tours. We utilize Kiwi guides
who we have personally fished with and respect for their people handling
skills and knowledge of local fisheries. On any given day, your guide may
have a choice of 5 to 10 rivers, with many more options within these various
waters on which to spend the day fishing. Factors such as weather, wind,
water levels and recent fishing pressure must be considered in deciding
where to go. The choices are not always easy, and this is where years of
experience come into play. The guides we work with have this experience
to consistently offer the highest quality of guiding to our clients.
New
Zealand offers northern hemisphere anglers a fantastic winter getaway.
The South Island's fishing season runs from October through April, with
the North Island's season extending into May. Fishing is truly world class,
with most trout averaging 4 to 6 pounds. Depending on the fishery, trophies
in the 7 to 11 pound class can be caught. Occasionally even larger trout
are landed, many of which are taken in North Island lakes. Great fishing
can be reached just off the road or by 4WD vehicle. Helicopter trips to
backcountry wilderness rivers are a memorable experience. We have flown
with most all of the helicopter operators in New Zealand that cater to
fly fishermen, and only book our clients with the best and safest pilots.

All itineraries are customized to the client's requirements, with most
fishing tours lasting ten days to three weeks. We have a long list of lodges,
hotels, B & B's and guide homestays which we can book for you. To ensure
availability of guides and accommodations, arrangements should be booked
as early as possible; six months ahead is not to soon to begin planning
your trip, and some of our clients are booking a year in advance.
For anglers who prefer to travel, explore and fish on their own, we
plan itineraries and give all the necessary information to make a trip
downunder a successful one. Included with a planned itinerary is information
on car or campervan rentals, accommodations, backcountry wilderness trips, helicopter operators, guides and recommended
fly patterns and equipment. We provide you with all contact phone numbers
and you book your own trip. These planned fishing tours work exceptionally
well for the budget minded angler and can save you money on exchange rates
by using your credit card for reservations and payments.
Please contact us and let our experience go to work for you planning
your winter getaway to New Zealand.
